They say hindsight is 20-20 however, this journey is being chronicled to create the view from 2020.
A purposeful plan, set about in the belief that doing less, doing it regularly, with determination and perseverance is the recipe for mastery.
My name is Michael. I’m 43 years old. I’m not in terrible physical shape, but I’ve never attained the physique I always told myself that I would one day.
I enjoy writing, and desire to be widely read, and make a living with my words.
I like taking pictures with cameras, and hope to share my photographs along the way.
While my ambition is sincere, this chronicle will at times suffer from the day to day pitfalls that make up the human experience in the modern world. So while I respect your participation in this journey as a commitment unto itself, I must ask for the same respect. Being human, this human being is setting about on this trek of 10 years to grow in the ways in which I desire at this moment in time. Like a road trip though, I expect to have to pull off the highway for fuel from time to time. Weather, and others along the way will cause changes or detours in the predetermined route.
The point B destination for my DecaTrek is December 31, 2019. Point A is tomorrow January 1, 2010. Three thousand six hundred fifty two days lie ahead. One step at a time, one day at a time, one decision at a time, will determine the 53 year old me. This is my gift to my older self.
Should you decide to join me, or decide to form your own DecaTrek I wish you a safe journey. And remind you to enjoy the view, pay attention to the road, and look out for falling rocks.
